Lucknow, August 17: The Uttar Pradesh government has transferred 18 IAS officers and posted them as Joint Magistrates in different districts across the state. The officers, who were serving as Assistant Magistrates, have now been given new field assignments as part of the latest administrative reshuffle.
The postings cover several districts, including Shahjahanpur, Basti, Budaun, Gorakhpur, Azamgarh, Maharajganj, Deoria, Sultanpur, Jaunpur, Auraiya, Prayagraj, Kanpur Dehat, Ballia, Kushinagar, Mainpuri, Jhansi, Rae Bareli and Lucknow.
Among the prominent appointments is that of Aditya Srivastava, who has been posted as Joint Magistrate of Shahjahanpur after serving as Assistant Magistrate in Moradabad. Srivastava, a 2023-batch IAS officer, had topped the UPSC Civil Services Examination in 2023.
Kunal Rastogi, who was posted as Assistant Magistrate in Bijnor, has been moved to Gorakhpur as Joint Magistrate. Ayan Jain, earlier posted in Ghaziabad, will take charge as Joint Magistrate of Azamgarh.
The reshuffle also brings new responsibilities for Shivam Kumar, who moves from Agra to Maharajganj, and Animesh Verma, who has been transferred from Prayagraj to Deoria. Both officers will now work as Joint Magistrates in their respective districts.
Another notable posting is that of Arpit Kumar, who has been moved from Kannauj to Prayagraj. The appointment gives him a field-level administrative role in one of the state’s major districts.
In western Uttar Pradesh, Shaurya Arora has been transferred from Unnao to Budaun, while Anshul Hindal will move from Mirzapur to Sultanpur. Shubhanshu Katiyar, who was serving in Aligarh, has been posted as Joint Magistrate of Jaunpur.
The government has also assigned Akshay Deepak as Joint Magistrate of Kushinagar after his posting in Jhansi. Tejas K. has been transferred from Barabanki to Mainpuri, while Manisha Dhayen will move from Lakhimpur Kheri to Jhansi.
Two other appointments are significant at the district level. Ayush Agarwal, who was serving as Assistant Magistrate in Siddharthnagar, has been posted as Joint Magistrate of Rae Bareli. Meanwhile, Aparajita Aryan has been transferred from Muzaffarnagar and posted as Joint Magistrate of Lucknow.
The remaining officers in the order have also been assigned Joint Magistrate posts in different districts. The move marks a shift in their field responsibilities as they take on roles closer to the day-to-day functioning of district administration.
Joint Magistrates typically assist the district administration in a range of responsibilities, including revenue-related matters, implementation of government schemes, public grievance redressal and coordination between different departments. Their postings also give young IAS officers direct experience of dealing with administrative issues at the district level.
For officers moving from Assistant Magistrate positions, such assignments are an important part of their early field experience. They are expected to work closely with district officials and local authorities while carrying out responsibilities assigned by the district administration.
The latest reshuffle comes amid the government’s continuing deployment of IAS officers across districts. By placing officers in different parts of the state, the administration also gives them exposure to varied local challenges and administrative requirements.
The 18 officers are expected to take charge of their respective postings following the transfer order. Their new assignments will put them at the field level, where administrative decisions and government programmes directly affect citizens.
The latest order therefore represents a routine but significant movement within the state’s IAS cadre, with several officers moving into new districts and taking on greater responsibility as Joint Magistrates.
