The Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change. They’ve put out a couple of new IFS postings this September, and two names jumped out right away.
First up, R. Arun Kumar, IFS from the Tripura cadre, 2009 batch. He’s been appointed Principal of the Central Academy for State Forest Service—CASFOS—in Dehradun. It’s on central deputation under the ministry’s staffing scheme. The notification came out on 7 September.
If you’ve ever been around Dehradun’s New Forest campus, you know the place. CASFOS sits right there among the big forestry institutions—IGNFA, FRI, the whole lot. It’s one of the three main academies that train State Forest Service officers. New batches come in, do their induction, pick up the practical stuff, and head back to their states. The Principal’s job is to keep that whole show running—courses, field work, everything. Arun Kumar steps into that role now. He’s got the years behind him, so the academy should feel a steady hand.
A few days earlier, on 1 September, the ministry moved Raja Ram Singh. He’s IFS, Assam-Meghalaya cadre, 2006 batch. He was working as DIGF at the Regional Office Headquarters in New Delhi. Now he’s been posted as DIGF at the Regional Office in Chandigarh. Same central staffing scheme.
These regional offices handle a lot of the day-to-day stuff—checking forest clearances, site visits, making sure projects follow the rules. Chandigarh’s office covers a good chunk of the north. Raja Ram Singh moves from the Delhi HQ coordination role into that more direct regional charge.
That’s pretty much the sum of it. Two solid officers shifted into positions that matter—one shaping the next lot of forest officers, the other keeping an eye on compliance out in the field. The orders are short and official, the way these things usually are.
Nothing flashy, just the regular rotation that keeps the service moving.
